Creation of an Artist (2022)
Medium: Illustrator, Black Paper, Digital Press.
Dimensions: 11" x 17"
Drawing visual motifs from Michelangelo's Creation of Adam, Creation of an Artist was designed for the Production Design 2 course at Cedarville University. It was originally made as a digital press poster, printed on black paper, and trimmed to tabloid size without the third hand at the top left. The paper color was perhaps the greatest design constraint, as it required the piece to have a white base layer. The third hand was added to emphasize the chain of creative expression—from God creating man to man fashioning art. Because it would have lacked the white base, the black ink of the third hand would've looked almost glossy on the black paper—and not as easy to see—indicating the invisible quality of God.
